A new food and drink festival is coming to Hertford promising the finest wine and gourmet selections from around the county.
The first ever Eat Your Hert Out festival will offer signature dishes from Hertfordshire’s top independent restaurants and gastro pubs – and Great British Bake Off finalist Ian Cumming will be there too.
Wines, craft beers and ales and gin cocktails stand out as the best of the alcohol selection and the festival will host live music and entertainment in the evening.
James Dowling, owner of Hertford-based Wine2Trade, is behind the plans and wants to showcase the county’s “amazing” independent food and drink scene.
He said: “I am extremely excited to be bringing the first Eat Your Hert Out food and drink festival to Hertfordshire.
“As part of my day job, I am fortunate to deal with many of the area’s restaurants and pubs, and I just felt that we needed to really shout about our amazing independent food and drink scene.
“Eat Your Hert Out is very much about celebrating Hertfordshire’s very best food and drink, and putting on a fantastic festival with high quality entertainment, music and masterclasses so that visitors of all ages enjoy a weekend to remember.”
Eat Your Hert Out is also raising money for Abel Smith school, the chosen venue for the 2018 festival.
Some of the money raised from ticket sales will be donated to the school, which is fundraising for new playground equipment.
James added: “Schools across the UK are really struggling at the moment in terms of budgets, and I wanted to give something back to the community to help support the younger generation.
“Abel Smith is a wonderful school, and I’m delighted that Eat Your Hert Out can contribute to their fundraising goals in 2018.”
The festival will run for two days on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16.
Tickets for Eat Your Hert Out are priced at £8 per adult (online) with the first 500 tickets available at half price. Children up to 16 can visit for free when accompanied by an adult.Hertfordshire Abel Smith School Eat Your Hert Out
