Catford Food Market is supported by London Borough of Lewisham and is aimed at people who live, work, commute or socialise in Catford.
The new market aims to showcase every aspect of Catford from street art to community cooking as well as providing a new outlet for existing traders and opportunities for new businesses to grow.
Although food will be the focus prospective traders also include stalls selling handmade cosmetics, coffee with a conscience, multicultural books, and local crafts to accompany homemade foods, produce and ingredients as well as street food traders round the world, .
International street food will include Caribbean fayre from Jerk Off BBQ, north east Indian delights from Raastawala, Japanese delicacies from Fuse Love and Italian inspired sourdough pizza from Van Dough.
Cakes will be available from Brett & Bailey and Miss Flits Vegan Bakes, with bread and pastries from Claude’s Boulangerie. Non-food treats include multicultural children’s books from This is Book Love and work by local Catford artists and designers including Hazel Nicholls.
FoodYou can also get your hands on Catford’s newest custom beverages including: Catford Cream Soda and Catford Cola as well as Tom Cat Six gin and Catford Pride pale ale, both of which launched popular drinks festivals last year.
Organisers are keen to make it a social occasion which will appeal to all ages and budgets and stalls will also cater for a wide range of dietary needs.
The Catford Broadway site has excellent accessibility which makes it suitable for people with mobility problems and parents with pushchairs. Baby changing facilities and disabled lavatories are on site available through agreement reached with the local Costa.
Market organisers are working closely with Team Catford and are keen to receive public feedback as the next stage in the longstanding Catford Masterplan becomes a reality.
